  • Cut report generation time from 40s to 6s by moving aggregation into Postgres

MessMate

Hostel mess-menu and feedback app used by 800+ students on campus. Push notifications for menu changes, weekly polls for the mess committee.

Problem

800 students checked a WhatsApp group for the mess menu, and the committee had no idea what anyone actually ate.

Approach

Shipped a read-only menu first to earn installs, then added feedback polls once people were already opening it daily.

My role

Sole developer and designer. I ran the pilot with two hostels before the rollout.

Outcome

Adopted by 800+ students across 4 hostels; the committee now plans menus from real data.
